The Peters Players are an amateur dramatics group and were formed over 35 years ago under the name of The Tapestry Players. In the early 1960's the Tapestry Players were renamed The Peters Players in memory of Captain Peters who had begun to help finance the shows.
When he died, Captain Peters left his house, which is now known as ICL Beaumont, to the local community and left a thousand pounds to The Peters Players, the interest of which went towards supporting The Peters Players' productions well into the 1980's. Most of the balance was spent on refurbishing the scenery at that time.
The Peters Players normally stage two plays per year and over the last few years, we have raised and donated over one thousand five hundred pounds to charity, predominantly to The Guide Dogs for The Blind Association, and we are currently looking for suggestions for further local organisations to support.
